Arkansas highway officials are updating lawmakers on the progress of a $125 million overhaul of the state's busiest interchange.

Arkansas Highway and Transportation Director Scott Bennett was scheduled to brief lawmakers Friday on the work on the Interstate 430 and Interstate 630 interchange in west Little Rock. Highway officials have renamed the interchange the "Big Rock" interchange after a giant rock formation that was found during the project.

The highway department has been working on the interchange improvements since 2009, and it's expected to be completed in 2014. The interchange is located near some of the city's busiest shopping centers.

Members of the House and Senate transportation committee also planned to go on a tour of the interchange Friday.
